Those whom Jesus himself viewed as
"True Believers"

{ John 3 : 31-36 }
( John the Baptist said of Jesus : )

 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things.  The one who comes from heaven is above all.  He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony.  Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true.  He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.  The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands.  whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath.

{ Mark 7:6-9,13 }

He said to them,  "Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written, 'this people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.' you abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition." Then he said to them,  "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition! ...  13 thus making void the word of God through your tradition that you have handed on.  And you do many things like this."

{ Luke 3: 7 -18 }

John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him,  "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?  bear fruits worthy of repentance.  Do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our ancestor'; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ( or do not tell yourselves that you are saved because you have been born again once and for all, as though that made your own works irrelevant from then on.) Even now the ax is lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."  And the crowds asked him,  "What then should we do?"
        In reply he said to them,  "Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.

{Matthew 25:31-46 }

Then they will reply, "Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?"  And I will answer, "When you refused to help the least of these my brothers, you were refusing help to me."  And they shall go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous into everlasting life."

"Now which of these three," Jesus asked, " would you say was a neighbor to the bandit's victim?"   The man replied, "The one who showed him some pity."  Then Jesus said, "Yes, now go and do the same."

( Work like the non-believing Good Samaritan, not like the paragons of religion, i.e. the priest and the Levite.)
Luke 16:20-31: }

'Son, remember that during your life-time you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing.   So now he is here being comforted and you are in anguish. . . . 'If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even though someone rises from the dead.'

{ Matthew 19:16, 21-24 }

"Someone came to Jesus with this question: 'Good Master, what must I do to have eternal life? '
        Jesus told him that he must begin by obeying the ten commandments.  But, then he added . . .

'If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.'   But when the young man heard this, he went away sadly, for he was very rich." . . . "It is almost impossible for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.   I say it again – it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!"

{ Matthew 6:24 }

"You cannot serve two masters: God and Mammon (money).  For you will hate one and love the other, or else the other way around."

{Luke 12:15-21}

And he said to them,   "Take care!   Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions."   . . .   "Every man is a fool who gets rich on earth but not in heaven.  Sell what you have and give to those in need.  This will fatten your purses in heaven!   And the purses of heaven have no rips or holes in them.  Your treasures there will never disappear; no thief can steal them; no moth can destroy them.  Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be."

{ Matthew 5:17-22 }

Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.  For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.  Therefore, Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
        "You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, 'You shall not murder'; and 'whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.'  But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgment; and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, 'You fool,' you will be liable to the hell of fire.

{ Matthew  12:33-37 }

"Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.  You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  The good person brings good things out of a good treasure, and the evil person brings evil things out of an evil treasure.  I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

{ Luke 6:45-46 }

The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.  "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' ( i.e. profess to believe in me) and do not do what i tell you?"

        What makes a person right with God is a heart that is "in the right place," for that is what inspires the right as opposed to the wrong actions:
{ Mark 7:20-23}

And he said,  "It is what comes out of a person that defiles.  For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly.  All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

{ Matthew 12:47-50 }
      Jesus replied,  "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"  And pointing to his disciples, he said,  "Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

{ Luke 8:21}
      But he said to them,  "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it."
{ Matthew 13:18 - 23 }

"Hear then the parable of the sower.  When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown on the path.  As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet such a person has no root, but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, that person immediately falls away.  As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing.  But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."

{ Matthew 16:24-27 & Mark 8:34-38 }

Then Jesus told his disciples,  "if any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.  For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.  For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? "For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done.

{ Matthew 19: 16 -29 & Mark 10:17-31 }

Then someone came to him and said,  "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?"  And he said to him,  "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good.  If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." He said to him,  "Which ones?"  And Jesus said,  "You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." The young man said to him,  "I have kept all these; what do I still lack?"  Jesus said to him,  "If you wish to be perfect, (Jesus is still answering the question What good deed must i do to have eternal life?. . . ) Go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." When the young man heard this word, he went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
        Then Jesus said to his disciples,  "Truly I tell you, It will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.  Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astounded and said,  "Then who can be saved?"  But Jesus looked at them and said,  "For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible."
